Birthday Brunch

Last Sunday was my birthday and for breakfast Tom and I went to the new place by our house, Nick’s Original House of Pancakes. This place gets so packed on the weekends, so you have to go early if you don’t want to wait very long. I had a West Virginia omelet (sausage, mushrooms, onions, topped in sausage gravy) served with rye toast and hashbrowns. Typically I tend to go for a more veggie-filled omelet (spinach, mushrooms, onions, etc.) but since it was my birthday I decided to be a little more gluttonous. Speaking of gluttonous… Tom got the Fried Chicken Waffle. Apparently this is a known combination of foods, but I found it funny for some reason. Tom dipped the chicken in syrup, so I can see the sweet/salty appeal in that. Check it out:
