I have to say that taking pictures of my food definitely makes me more conscientious of what I eat! Clearly I’ve learned that weekends are where I pretty much
fail slip when it comes to healthy eating. I try to be ‘good’ during week but tend to eat out and have some drinks on the weekend. And I am perfectly okay with that. Everyone needs at least a little indulgence in their lives. Here are some pictures of the weekend in food:
Chicken Quesadillas at Pizza House:
Enjoyed with a pint of Oberon, and followed by a few bites of this brownie sundae Tom ordered.
That bounteous feast was preceded by my first Dominick’s Sangria of the spring during happy hour, which I failed to photograph… But here is an old pic of the mason jars at Dominick’s that I have!:
Saturday morning, I threw together this delicious breakfast: blueberry pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, and a few strawberries for good measure.
Saturday evening, Tom and I used a gift card we had and went to PF Chang’s in Livonia/Northville area. We ordered the dinner-for-two deal, which started out with two unpictured bowls of hot and sour soup (my favorite part of the meal, actually). Next we had our appetizer, Salt & Pepper Calamari.
Our two entrees, Almond & Cashew Chicken and Orange Peel Beef, were enjoyed next, along with brown rice. The Orange Peel Beef was my favorite of the two dishes. Lastly, we each choose a mini dessert from their selection of eight; I had red velvet and Tom had cherry cheesecake. Overall, a delicious meal!
Regarding the ambiance, I honestly find this place to be a little overwhelming to my senses. It gets incredibly loud during peak dinner hour, and the waiting area can be cramped and, well, stressful. Luckily, a reservation helps minimize the wait time and is highly recommended (by me!). It’s also rather dark inside, which creates an intimate atmosphere that I often enjoy, but I could do for a just a touch more of warm light illuminating the dining area, but that’s just me.
Sunday, my (self-diagnosed) OCD kicked in, and I tackled some organization projects around the house. This spice cupboard has been the bane of my existence. It’s so high that I can barely reach it (good thing my husband is 6’4"), and I can never find what I want. Most of my favorite spices are in my cute little spice rack on the counter, but the rest end up in this cupboard. Here is the BEFORE:
And… AFTER! I got this handy little shelf rack thing below, and voila! Organized spices! Organization = happy Megan.
More organization! Don’t even get me started on my make-up drawer. Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE our master bath and all the space I have for all my bath and body stuff that supports my high-maintenance life :) But… this drawer just irks me every time. Here is BEFORE:
And after. Oh joy! :)
