Memorial Day Weekend Extravaganza

Saturday (through Sunday afternoon) was the JH/MH Bday-SATC2-Bang EXTRAVAGANZA. Saturday we saw Sex and the City 2 at the theater, followed by dinner at Mongolian BBQ. Below is my plate #2, consisting of various veggies (broccoli, sprouts, onions, ‘shrooms [non-magical ;)], green pepper..), tofu and sweet and spicy orange sauce. I must say that my unpictured plate #1 surpassed plate #2 – imagine similar veggies plus lots of pineapple, chicken, and my favorite (and JH’s least fave) PEANUT sauce with lots of red pepper flakes and sprinkling of ginger. YUM. I do have a little bit of regret for not getting a dish with buffalo sauce, my second-favorite sauce… Next time!

 Time-out for some techno jammzzzzz

I would like say that I baked JH a birthday cake, but I got a little help from Meijer in that department. I did, however, EMBELLISH said cake (may or may not have used xmas sprinkles on hand from making chocolate truffles at xmas…). In an effort to keep my blog non-R-rated, unfortunately I felt it necessary to censor the cake photograph. But trust me kids, it was “lovely”!

After consuming some Cosmo/sex on the beach-esque cocktail concoctions made after busting out some mad bartending skillz, we headed to the Ball Bang at the Pig, followed by these late-night eats. Yes, even at 3am after returning from the bar, I’ve got meg.goes.nom.nom on the brain. (must..document..food..). I’m not even going to lie to you right now. I LOVE these stupid Michelina’s frozen mac ‘n cheeses This picture looks pretty gross! But it looked much better after stirring at least! Plus CAKE!

Late-Night Noms

After a few hours of shut-eye, we awoke ready to conquer Ann Arbor to get free birthday food for JH. After much himming and hawing, Ms. Indecisive, myself, and Tom ended up at Carson’s. I went to Carson’s for my birthday too (pre-blog!). Lunch began with a basket of bread, topped with cheese and carmelized onions. CARMELIZED ONIONS. Ohhh, I wish they would slather the bread with those things. I could eat a bowlful of carmelized onions, I am certain. The best pieces were hidden toward the bottom, so this picture isn’t the best (also thank my iPhone!).

Next up was Flash Fried Calamari with a spicy sweet chili sauce. Top notch.

For myself, I ordered the Thai Chicken Salad, which contained a wide variety of fresh greens lightly tossed in a honey sesame dressing and drizzled with Peanut Vinaigrette. There is also a grilled chicken breast hidden beneath the greens! Typically, I enjoy my salads with more ‘goodies’ and various noms, but this salad was very good and I devoured the entire thing.

Tom ordered the Chopped Salad, with roasted chicken, avocado, tomatoes, bleu cheese, eggs, scallions, and corn with a balsamic vinaigrette:

The birthday bitc.. girl ordered a modest Grilled Chicken Club with lettuce, bacon, avocado, jalapeno jack cheese, and herb mayo. (Pretty conservative compared to what I ordered on my birthday! – Beef Medallions and Crab Cake).  That melty cheese over the bacon was awfully enticing though! JH also enjoyed an unpictured free dessert.  If you can’t tell from the pics, we ate outside on their patio, which was lovely. :)

PS- Wthell is up with wordpress today? It has been a total fail! Getting irritated..
