As I was typing the title to this post, I found myself second-guessing the spelling of BBQ.
Barbeque? Barbecue?
Is it just me, or do they both look right? At this point, I have typed them each so many times that I can’t tell the difference. I think I will go with “barbeque” since the abbreviation/acronym is BBQ.
Okay. Moving on.
Satchel’s
So far this weekend’s noms have involved fulfilling cravings for barbequed food. Friday evening, the huz and I both agreed that Satchel’s BBQ sounded absolutely divine, so to Satchel’s we headed for… A Satchel of Satchel’s! (That’s actually what they call it!)
We ordered one pound of pulled chicken, with mac and cheese, baked beans, and cornbread. We lucked out and got a fresh-out-of-the-pan side of heavenly mac and cheese – so creamy and delicious. The baked beans were incredible tonight. I really think that the house BBQ sauce has highly improved since Satchel’s opened as well – really tasty and unique. And of course, the chicken was amazing. All around excellent dinner.
Biercamp
On Saturday night we fulfilled another barbeque craving. In fact, this has been something I have been craving all winter, since it has been too cold to grill. Finally, we were able to grill our beloved Biercamp brats again! Today we stopped by Biercamp for a couple packs of brats, and tonight the huz grilled the Chili Cheese Bacon Brats. These were incredibly rich and reminded me of coney sauce. I love the abundance of cheese in Biercamp’s brats, because it gets all melty and luscious after grilling. We had grilled veggies on the side – red and green bell peppers, baby bella ‘shrooms, red onion, and zucchini.
BBQ makes everything better.
I foresee Brownies for Two in my future! Muahaha.
Biercamp brats are the best I have ever tasted ! MOM
Agreed!!
Totally agree…BBQ does make everything better! Love summer time grilling (especially corn)….and I just read about your ‘brownies for two’ post. I get cravings for gelato as well…doesn’t matter how hot or cold it is outside…gelato is the bomb
BBQ + gelato = life is complete.
Well, maybe add a cold beer.
Couldn’t help notice. No BBQ sauce with Biercamp meal. Barbecue or grill? I often interchange the two. I’m not a big fan of traditional BBQ sauce. Too overpowering and you lose the taste of the meat. One of my summer favorites is baby back pork ribs..not “country” ribs, not just any size slab but small and lean. With rub or no rub. Doesn’t matter. No BBQ sauce to smother the pork taste. Grilled to death so they are crispy-crunchy.
That is true… no BBQ sauce needed with the Biercamp.. but I still called it “BBQ” to refer to the method for cooking it – over a hot fire (in this case charcoal).
Tom also likes ribs sans sauce, but with a nice dry rub.
