Let me walk you through my weekend, backwards. Since we got our grill, one of the things I have been most eager to try making were kabobs. Tom put these bad boys together, using this recipe from dole.com that I found. On the water-soaked bamboo skewers are red and green pepper, zucchini, and chicken, which were placed in a pinapple teriyaki marinade for about 20 minutes before grilling. Next, all the pieces were threaded onto the skewers, along with pineapple chunks, and grilled by Tom.

Served with a side of Bush’s Grillin’ Beans. Awesome dinner!!
This afternoon we went for a hike at the Pinckney Rec Area. We intended to take a shorter route today, given that it was our first hike of the year; however, one wrong turn and our pleasant little stroll turned into a 2+ hour journey. I am exhausted!!! I can only imagine how sore I will be tomorrow. On the way home we made a pit stop at Jenny’s Market in Dexter for my fave, Hot & Sweet Pickles. Clearly I am thrilled – (I look like a man in this picture.. but this is after a looong tiring hike!) :
Yesterday I did part of my grocery shopping at Whole Foods, picking up a few delectable items. Finished up my shopping today at Meijer, but sorry, no pic!
Including my free sample of juice from the Maqui, which is reportedly the “highest antioxidant superfruit in the world.” It is intended to be taken daily (15 mL) as a dietary supplement, but at ~$32/bottle (which is about 1 month’s worth), and the fact that “none of these statements have been evaluated by the FDA,” I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this stuff anytime soon. Tastes good enough though. It was my impression that antioxidants would be most beneficial if consumed throughout the day, and not all in one daily dose, but hey, I’m no expert.
Also spent some time reading my two newest food mags this weekend. Hahaha
Saturday I went for a walk at Gallup Park, and there were baby birds galore! I zoomed in as far as I could on these baby swans. Also saw baby ducks and baby geese (so fuzzy!) around the park.
Also spent some time with this guy yesterday, while watching SATC episodes, in preparation for the SATC2 movie next week!
Tonight I popped open the pickle jar (with some assistance).
