Seva Experience #2 + Halloween Hints

Thursday – woot! Today at work was our Halloween potluck, at which I ate my fair share of food, but that didn’t stop me from being hungry for dinner. Seva was our restaurant of choice tonight. Our first time visiting this vegetarian restaurant was about 2-3 weeks ago, and it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in quite some time. Utterly delicious food. So I had high hopes this evening.

Last time I ordered the Pumpkin Manicotti, which was so ah-may-zing, I had to try to recreate it [sans clothing] in my own kitchen (read about that here). Tonight, I ordered the Black Bean & Sweet Potato Quesadilla, “Grilled whole wheat tortilla filled with black beans, onions, roasted sweet potatoes and Mexican Chihuahua cheese, with sour cream, house-made corn chips and salsa.” Not the most photogenic in the world, but here they are, below. Well, actually Tom ordered a slightly different quesadilla, and this was actually his plate. But our plates appeared identical, except for the fact that I had sour cream and he had guacamole.

Overall my quesadilla was good, but not rave-able. It was a little on the greasy side, but the cheese was nice and melty, and I loved all the black beans inside. I would have liked to taste the sweet potato flavor a bit more, and a bit of heat couldn’t have hurt either. The house-made tortilla chips were totally legit, as was their salsa. Tom asked how my dish compared to the Pumpkin Manicotti I ordered last time and I responded, “it doesn’t.” But still, a good dinner, I can’t complain. I still love Seva.

I can’t believe it’s almost Halloween. My costume needs to be ready for tomorrow! GAH! A few hints that it’s almost Halloween in the MGNN household, including some Halloween cards I got in the mail today:

Halloween candy all ready for the trick-or-treaters on Sunday. I probably should not have opened up the bags of candy because it takes every ounce of restraint I have to not grab a piece every time I walk by. Psh, and I claim to not have a sweet tooth; who am I kidding?

Though I may resist the candy for the trick-or-treaters, I’m not quite able to resist a strawberry-mallow-filled chocolate pumpkin. Mmmmm.

Just because I wanted to. It’s my blog:
