We have been long overdue for a visit to Smoke House Blues in Ann Arbor, a place that consistently delivers amazing food! Trying to think of a restaurant on the same side of town as the movie theater on Friday, Smokehouse Blues seemed to fit the bill.
To start, we couldn’t resist trying the Nachos Memphis, topped with Pulled Pork, melted cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, tomatoes, onions, sour cream, and pico de gallo. The Pulled Pork was beyond amazing – smoky, tangy, and tender – and I loved it on nachos! A great way to jazz up regular ol’ nachos for a BBQ joint.
T has been on a kick for brisket lately, so that is what he ordered – the Beef Brisket Platter, "slow-smoked, hand-sliced and glazed with our own smokehouse barbecue sauce," as described by their menu. It was accompanied by his choice of two sides, and he opted for Onion Rings and Macaroni & Cheese. I tried a bite of everything, and it was all solid! Tender brisket; crispy, piping-hot, thinly sliced onion rings; and ultra-creamy homemade Macaroni and Cheese.
I love Smoke House Blues’ smoked turkey, so I ordered the Turkey Sandwich with melted Swiss cheese on a toasted and tasty fresh bun. I doused this sucker with lots of Sweet BBQ Sauce. Each table holds three giant bottles, each containing a different variety of their BBQ sauce. I ordered Sweet Potato Fries with my sandwich and OMG! These were amazing Sweet Potato Fries! Holy Noms!! The Cajun Ranch Sauce that came with them was simply FOODGASMIC. Oh, and don’t forget the crunchy pickle spear and Killian’s on the side.
I don’t know why we don’t go here more often. We’ll be back soon, for sure.
After dinner it was time for HP7:IMAX! I was pumped and
practically literally skipping through the parking lot (also because it was cold!). The movie was great; dark and action-packed. The 2.5-hour run-time simply flew by. Obviously I now cannot wait for next summer.
