Sidetrack Chicken Pot Pie

Oh my gosh, you guys. I need to tell you about something I ate that deserves it’s own post.

This past Friday, at Sidetrack, I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. Not just any Chicken Pot Pie. THIS Chicken Pot Pie:

THIS Chicken Pot Pie, I declared upon it’s arrival, could feed a family of six. Okay, maybe an exaggeration, but c’mon! Can you say huge!? This super-low quality picture barely does justice to the size of this baby. I ate about 40% for dinner, and brought the rest home.

Chicken Pot Pie is a dish that is near and dear to me. Honestly my very favorite food as a kid was my grandma’s Chicken Pot Pie. Seriously, just the best thing ever. I STILL think about it, though it’s been well over a decade since I’ve been able to enjoy it. Hers was different from Sidetrack’s in that hers wasn’t exactly a “pie,” per se, having only a top-crust consisting of Bisquick biscuits! The filling was thick and savory, with lots of falling-apart chicken pieces, and an abundance of veggies.

The filling of Sidetrack’s Chicken Pot Pie was the closest to my grandma’s version that I’ve ever tasted anywhere. Wonderful. The crust was one of the flakiest pastries I’ve ever seen.

Given that the huz won a free year of burgers at Sidetrack, we clearly will be making many trips here over the next year. It’s my goal to try everything on the menu. Chicken Pot Pie was a new dish for me! Seriously, I’ve never tried anything at Sidetrack that wasn’t GREAT, as I frequently reiterate. Another statement that I frequently reiterate with my fellow Sidetrack dinners, after a beer or two, is that, “I just want to live here. Here, inside Sidetrack.”

The huz ordered his weekly BBQ Slaw Burger. Though he is allowed to order any burger he likes with his coupon, his own creation is his favorite.

Here I am sipping on my Dogfish 90 Minute IPA. Last week, Kath mentioned Dogfish IPAs, so I decided I must try one, though I’m typically not one to order an IPA. It was good! ..But mid-way through drinking it, I consulted my smartphone to check what the alcohol content was and was surprised to learn that it is 9% ABV. Wowza!
