I was going to do complete an entire 20+ question 2011 recap survey that I saw featured on Brie’s blog, but instead, I decided to just tackle Question #1!:
What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?
- Fitness:
- Completed the Couch-to-5K program
- Ran two 5Ks – Dexter-Ann Arbor and Big House Big Heart.
- Completed the 30 Day Shred
- Lost about 7 pounds, in addition to the 26 pounds lost in 2010, and kept it off.
- Food:
- The huz won Sidetrack’s Burger Creation Contest and one year of free burgers with his BBQ Slaw Burger
- Ate no meat for 7 days in a row.
- Developed a love of Kale Chips, Brussels Sprouts & Shrimp
- Got a French Press for making coffee
- Enjoyed a few Martini Mondays & Got tipsy on unlimited mimosas at Raven’s Club for brunch
- Ate at a tapas restaurant for the first time
- Became utterly addicted to Iorio’s Gelateria
- Cooked Moroccan cuisine
- Local Eateries – Places I Dined For The First Time:
- Amer’s YogurtRush, Benny’s, Biercamp, Biwako Sushi, Black Pearl, Brewed Awakenings, Café Zola, Chop House, Dimo’s, Frita Batidos, Gandy Dancer, Jamaican Jerk Pit, Jolly Pumpkin, La Marsa, Mani Osteria, Marnee Thai, Moonwinks, Raja Rani, Ravens Club, Red Brick, Roos Roast, San Street Cart, Sadako, Sava’s, Sottini’s, Tio’s.
- Life:
- Received my Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) certification
- Survived Snowmageddon 2011
- Rid our garage of a raccoon
- Joined a CSA for the summer season
- Drank beer at Ann Arbor Oktoberfest two nights in a row
- Watched a Michigan football game from a luxury suite
- Dressed as Black Swan for Halloween
- Attended a Rocky Horror Picture Show midnight show at the State Theater
- Went to HalloWeekends at Cedar Point
- Got a massage at a spa
- Music:
- Auditioned and was accepted into the U-M Life Sciences Orchestra, in which I play the violin
- Moshed at the Family Values Tour
- Travel – New places I traveled to:
- San Francisco: Muir Woods, Chinatown, Napa & Sonoma Valley Wineries
- Went to Mackinaw City for a wedding
- Baltimore
- Vacationed over Christmas break, in Las Vegas
What an amazing year you’ve had. You are inspiring me to think about how to incorporate some things into 2012. I am delighted that you continue this blog! I love getting the notices that there is a new post! 🙂

Nice! I almost went to Rocky Horror too, but had a stupid migraine or some other illness befell me. BUT, I was at Oktoberfest, so yay us!!! Looking forward to a good year of food with ya 🙂
