Spring has sprung here in Michigan. Evidence: our forsythia bush flowered this past week. Bright and cheery yellow beside our yellow house.
On Saturday I went to my parents’ for the day (and night), for a spring shopping extravaganza, followed by a pre-movie dinner next door to the theater at Bdub’s with my mom. Commence Asian Zing boneless wings!
Next we popped over to the IMAX theater to line up for The Hunger Games!! We had purchased our tickets far in advance, because we anticipated a sold out show, which did in fact occur.
The movie was superb! In the process of book-to-movie adaptations, fans will always have some issues; however, I thought this movie was extremely well-done and maintained the integrity of the novel. I didn’t want it to end! Katnisssss!
Post-movie nachos Eddy Fitzes made for excellent movie discussion fuel.
And after sleeping on it, I awoke to a bacon ‘n’ eggs brunch.
By the afternoon, I had driven back to Ann Arbor. The huz prepped the grill for dinner. Our first Grillin’ and Chillin’ sesh of the year!
While the huz did his manly grill duties, I did a girly duty and got out my Easter decorations. I can’t believe Easter in is two weeks.
Steak and asparagus on the grill. The asparagus got a bit charred on the hot grill, but the steaks were perfectly cooked.
I could only eat about half of my eight ounce steak with this big meal! As an appetizer, I also made us each a crab cake – found a pack of two for less than $2.00 at Meijer today – with a quick mayo/lemon/dijon/caper sauce I tossed together. Roasted sweet potato chunks were served on the side as well.
