Pie Will Happen Soon

As much as I love having weekends full of fun things to do in the summer, I also love the occasional wide open Saturday, which is what happened yesterday. The lack of plans or commitments allowed me to sleep in nice and late, with no guilt. Usually I am up between 9:00-10:00 on the weekends, unless I have somewhere to be early, but after a late Friday night out, I hibernated until about 11:00 on Saturday morning. Glorious.

After a cocktail-filled evening, I was craving one of my favorite guilty pleasure foods: Stouffer’s French Bread Pizza. I try not to eat these too often, but every one in a while the craving hits and I allow myself to indulge. I had one French bread pizza with a bowl of cottage cheese doused in black pepper.

After lunch I did some much needed relaxing. I have such trouble making myself sit and relax sometimes. I always feel like I need to be doing something and usually won’t allow myself relaxation time until I’ve done something productive. One of the things I spent some time doing was playing the Song Pop app on my iPhone. Have you played!? Basically you and an opponent take turns guessing a series of five songs from a genre, and points are earned for speed and accuracy. It’s kind of like ‘Name That Tune,’ and as it turns out, I’m pretty dang good at this game! What can I say… I am almost constantly listening to some sort of music whenever I have the chance.

Later in the afternoon, the huz and I went to visit the new Costco that just opened in Ann Arbor, to see what all the hype was about. Neither he nor I have ever been in a Costco or Sam’s Club, so the whole warehouse/bulk concept was new to us, and of course we were oohing and ahhing over huge pickle jars and such. Honestly I don’t really see myself purchasing the $55 membership to be able to shop there though. I’ve heard that you can still purchase things at Costco without a membership, but are just charged a small fee (~5%?) on top the each item’s cost. Anyone know if that is true or not?

Next stop: Maize & Blue Deli for dinner take-out. I tried #13, Coach’s Reuben: “Corned beef, Switzerland Swiss, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing on grilled sourdough rye.”

Yeah, you caught me. We totally ate this on our couches in the loft, in front of an episode of How I Met Your Mother. To be honest, that’s where we usually eat most of our meals.

After dinner I did my weekly grocery shopping, but forget to get pie ingredients!

I’ve been talking about making a Strawberry Rhubarb pie for about two weeks now and I just hasn’t worked out yet. Soooon!
