Happy Thanksgiving from MegGoesNomNom. And from Daisy!
We had a very nice holiday indeed, spent with the huz, my parents, sis, and Daisy.
Check out that beauty of a 20 pounder! Holy gobbles.
This year I realized how good dark meat is! I have clearly been missing out! I like dark meat with gravy, and white meat slathered in cranberry sauce.
Stuffing is another favorite. Plus we’ve got some coleslaw, yams, and squash back there. I am the Queen of Squash. It’s always been one of my favorite foods.
But shoot, those buttery mashed pertaders are pretty highly ranked too. How is a girl to choose?
Just give me a stick of butter and a vat of gravy, and we’re good.
My first dinner plate, filled to the brim. Went back for many seconds.
I barely had room for dessert but managed to nom a piece of the Reese’s Cheesecake Brownies that I had made.
I found the recipe for these babies on Pinterest. The ingredients were rather gluttonous!
We’re talking a box of brownies, peanut butter, sweetened condensed milk, a bag of chocolate chips, cream cheese, and lots of Reese’s. I prepared these on Tuesday night, in preparation for Thanksgiving.
First I prepared the brownies per the box instructions. Then I prepared the peanut butter cheesecake filling with Reese’s Pieces mixed in.
The cheesecake layer was slathered atop the uncooked brownie layer, next, and then popped in the oven for 40 minutes.
After coming out of the oven, plus an hour of cooling, I poured an entire bag of melted semi-sweet chocolate chips on top. zOMG!
And after a bit more cooling, 16 chopped Reese’s cups were the final layer.
This is no joke.
The aftermath:
All in all these brownies were really good, but I probably wouldn’t recommend the recipe because I think there are several issues with the method. The original recipe can be found over at Pip & Ebby if you’re interested in checking it out.
I wasn’t a fan of the hardened chocolate layer on top which made eating – and cutting – the brownies a little difficult. These were SO dense and SO rich, only a few bites were needed to satiate my appetite for dessert! Basically I just wanted to dig out the amazing peanut butter cheesecake layer, which probably means I need to make a peanut butter cheesecake in the future!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Looks delicious! We don’t do thanksgiving in Aus, but maybe exit year I will give it a go, any excuse to make food like this…
