First off, I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to the best mom (my mom!). I am happy that I got to spend much of the day with her, and my fam, today!
..And, on to the food. (Smooth segue, I know.)

Recap of Last Week:
Dinner Meal Plan for May 4-10:
- Saturday: Biercamp Brats, Stove Top Mac-n-Cheese, Grilled Asparagus
- Monday: Apple Chicken Sausage Sweet and Sour Stir Fry <- unfortunately this recipe was a dud
Luckily, despite the blah dinner, my Tuesday evening improved immensely when I met up with Five Star SexiMexy (and Gabi) for one last one tasting at Bar Whole Foods before Five Star’s moves away from the mitten state. A fantastic cheese platter was involved! #omgcheese
- Tuesday: Shrimp Fettuccine with Spinach and Parmesan <- success!
- Wednesday: Pho House take-out
- Thursday: Wing it – black bean burger, potstickers, strawberry and avocado salad
- Friday: Date night with the huz – Dinner at What Crepe? (review coming soon) and a movie (The Great Gatsby!)
Cheers to that.

What did you think of Gatsby?! I’m dying to see it. Also, #LeoSwoon for real.
I loved it.
Leo is my obsession. He was excellent as Gatsby. Of course.
Carey Mulligan pulled off an adequate Daisy but I found her character to be somewhat shallow and two-dimensional, and I don’t think she captured the full range of the character. (I still am a big fan of her though.)
The movie is a delight to watch – many call it garish, but I found myself entranced by the flashy, glamorous scenes and sexy soundtrack.
But all in all, I reveled in every minute of the movie. 🙂
