We just returned from a uber-refreshing weekend upnorth (aka, Northern Michigan, for you non-Michiganders).
Natch, lots of food was involved! This is always true of the best vacations!
Secret Family Recipe Baked Beans [though I just might be able to acquire and share the recipe if you guys are reaaaaally interested!].
A whole, nearly 13-pound turkey was cooked on the grill. Super smoky and delicious, with yummy crisp skin.
I made Bobby Flay’s Blackberry-Bourbon Iced Tea!
Big hearty breakfasts, complete with bacon and zuke bread.
A gorgeous, warm, sunny afternoon was spent at North Higgins Lake State Park. As I said in my last post, Michigan has the most gorgeous lakes and beaches!
Straight Chillin’.
My dad was on dog duty for a while while the rest of us were down at the lake. Daisy was not allowed on the sandy beach side of the pathway at the park, and apparently the park rangers are pretty strict here.
Grilled brats!
After an exciting day at the beach, Daisy could barely keep her eyes open on the drive back to the cabin. Aww.
More food! Juicy burgers.
Sunsets.
Bonfires.
S’mores.
Banana boats…
…cooked over the fire.
I’m so happy we had such a lovely warm weekend for our getaway!
Looks like a great weekend! 🙂
Higgins 6th most beautiful lake in the world! I wish I could have been with you! see you soon
A wonderful weekend ! MOM
