It was highly requested that I blog about the family gathering I attended this weekend and what can I say – I can’t disappoint my readers!
This past week my mom’s side of the family all gathered at my Aunt Barb’s house to spend some time together, and especially with my Aunt Anne who is visiting from Cali.
Of course the day wouldn’t be complete without snapping pics outside on the deck. We had an incredibly gorgeous, sunny September day for our gathering.
Me and the woman of the hour! My Aunt Anne is so cool and I wish we lived closer so we could see her more often!
It was a perfect day for burgers on the grill, which also happen to be one of my weakness in life. Especially when a slew of toppings are offered with them. My Aunt Barb prepared a yummy spread of hors d’oeuvres, coleslaw, one of her famous salads, dogs and burgers grilled by my uncle, and all the toppings one could want. Other contributions included some hella good baked beans and my dad’s famous deviled eggs.
And no family gathering would be complete without dessert and coffee. My Aunt Becky’s homemade fudgy brownies, cookies, and a half-cup of coffee. Dessert plate for the win!
My uncle has an incredible collection of African violets that he grows, and gorgeous mini bouquets of them decorated the house. These pastel pink and violet colored ones remind me of butterfly wings.
Remarkably, we all managed to gather for a family group shot before dinner (minus one; thanks to my cousin’s girlfriend for snapping this good shot!).
It was a fun day – thanks to my aunt and uncle for hosting us!
