Cheese is my favorite food, I would say. I always tell people that I’ve never met a cheese I didn’t like and that is pretty much true. Or, completely true. (Yes, that’s a dare. Mail me some crazy cheeses, people.)
Anything with cheese is my second favorite food. Mac ‘n’ cheese. Cheeseburgers. Pizza. Nachos. What can I say? I’m a girl who loves indulgent food. Luckily I am very good at controlling my portions, or else I would weigh 500 pounds by now.
I’ve now had the opportunity to dine at Elevation Burger twice, and as a cheese and burger lover, I would give my full recommendation to you.
Locations in Michigan are sparse, but you Ann Arborites are in luck, because we currently house the only Elevation Burger in the mitten. Several other states have locations as well.
Let me tell you about the food. Elevation Burger’s motto is that “Ingredients Matter.” I must say I agree. So let’s get down to business and take a peek at some of those ingredients.
First, the cheese. Six-month aged non-processed cheddar. Nom. I love how thickly cut it is as well.
Then the meat. 100% USDA-Certified Organic, grass-fed, free-range beef. Not only is this choice better for you and for the environment, it is also a DELICIOUS choice.
“Grass-fed beef contains higher levels of healthy fatty-acids (Omega 3’s) and tastes fresher, more natural, and less homogeneous than a conventional beef product.” [source]
Lots of burger toppings are offered with no additional charge for your burger, including lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, pickles, Elevation Sauce, and hot pepper relish. Additional toppings are also available for a small charge, such as bacon (it is thick and crisp!) and blue cheese dressing. The toppings seemed a little sparse to me, but the burger is delicious enough that it doesn’t even need a bunch of crazy toppings to taste good! And I love that.
As for the fries, they are addictingly good. They are thinly-cut potatoes fried in 100% olive oil.
You absolutely MUST order a malt while you are there! Usually I’m not huge on milkshakes. To me, the mediocre-ness of a conventional fast food milk shake is just not at all worth the vastly high number of calories. (Did you know a 16 ounce McDonald’s milk shake has around 700 calories?!). I’d rather eat a second burger or more fries, to be honest.
But at Elevation Burger, the game has changed. Elevation Burger has MALTS. And they are made from rBST-free hand-dipped ice cream! They taste like a malted milk ball in a thick, creamy, lush, ice cream form and it will just blow you away. I promise. Below is coffee ice cream, with Oreos, malt powder, and strawberries.
In conclusion, I will simply say please try and support Elevation Burger soon if you are lucky enough to live near one. There are so many burger options out there and I’m happy that there is now a more environmentally- conscientious option available that also offers fantastic food.
Mmm, my mouth is watering again just thinking about it!
And the service is always nice and friendly. (Also I hear they have very tasty veggie burgers for you vegetarians!)
Crave-able!:
I think if/when the boys and I come to Ann Arbor, this will be where we have to eat.
It’s so yummy!
The burgers and the fries look delicious ! We will have to eat there during one of our visits.
Bet you’d like it!
Cool, I needed an alternative to Blimpy’s for when my cousin is coming to visit again, and this seems to fit the bill. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! Definitely try it out! 🙂
I love that I can get mine lettuce wrapped. I just wish they had a gluten free bun option, so I have to bring those for the rest of the family. Kind of a pain! It’s a safe place for us to eat, and quality! Love your pics.
Thanks, I love their food. 🙂
