Hey nommers, what is new? Not a whole lot here, but I did want to mention an article on Concentrate Media in which I was mentioned this week: 5 Local Blogs You Need To Be Reading. It is quite an honor to be featured amongst four other fantastic local bloggers! Also kudos to Doug Coombe who captured fantastic photos of each of the featured bloggers.
Cool, cool. Alright, time for me to fill you in on What I’ve Been Nomming Lately.

Sunday, October 12: Beef Burgundy
One of my favorite cool weather Sunday dinners that I have been making for years. (Truly – I first blogged about this back in 2010 and it was one of my very first posts!) Easy slow cooker meal served over egg noodles.
Monday, October 13: Lighter Chicken Piccata Risotto with Crispy Capers
This was a new recipe that I tried from Iowa Girl Eats and it was a HUGE success. I loved it, and huz loved it even more than me. This was my first time making risotto and the final product was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to make this one again.
Tuesday, October 14: Crispy Pork Medallions with Roasted Root Veggies and Sautéed Kale.
The pork and veggies were a bit blah and boring, and these recipes didn’t do much for me. I don’t think I’ll be making this recipe again.
Wednesday, October 15: Sushi and salad from Whole Foods.
Thursday, October 16: Crispy Vegetable Quesadillas
A unique and delicious variation on quesadillas. I loved these, but the man of the house wasn’t as keen on them.
Friday, October 17: Dinner at Maiz – read the full review here.
Saturday, October 18: I finally ate at the newer Buffalo Wild Wings on Boardwalk Drive in Ann Arbor. It was so much better than the one on State Street which I’ve essentially been boycotting for the past couple years because the food always tastes cold and stale. The wings at the Boardwalk Drive location were hot and fresh and so much better! I like boneless wings with Asian Zing and Hot sauce. Extra ranch.
Sunday, October 19: Brunch at Weber’s with the parents was my main meal of the day.
Monday, October 20: Dinner with one of my BFFs at Sava’s! I had the banh mi with pork belly which was good, but had been changed up since last time I ordered it – I liked their original version better. The happy hour wine and small plate of calamari were the best part! Not to mention the great company.
Tuesday, October 21: Crunchy Taco “Hamburger Helper”
Another solid recipe from Iowa Girl Eats. I did need to add a little extra liquid to the rice, and add a few extra minutes to the cooking time in order for the rice to cook through but all in all it definitely reminded me of a more ‘natural’ version (i.e., no weird neon cheese powders) of the boxed kind I loved as a college student!
Wednesday, October 22: Heart Cannellini and Sausage Soup
Yes, I make this soup a lot.
Thursday, October 23: I had big, greasy lunch at Blimpy Burger (more deets on that soon), so for dinner I just had roasted Brussels sprouts and a Green Harmony juice from Garden of Flavor! (Oh, and I stole one of the huz’s fish sticks.)
Of course I’m going to make you wait for those coveted Blimpy Burger pictures. Here’s a sneak peek.. of the line (womp womp). (Or if you follow me on Instagram you will have already seen my food pics!) In the meantime, feel free to read my last post about Blimpy Burger at their original location last year.
Friday, October 24: Progressive night out – drinks and live music from the very talented Abigail Stauffer at mash, dinner at Fleetwood, dessert at Café Felix! Ann Arbor has so much to offer.
Saturday, October 25: Watched football and made a big pot of Touchdown Chili. Secret ingredient: a bottle of Bell’s Oberon.
