December Ann Arbor Happenings

While the word “winter” doesn’t exactly make me feel gleeful as a Michigander, I will admit that I love the holiday season. The past few days have been full of holiday cheer, and I’m excited about more to come later this month.

On Friday, some of the staff from my office and I went on a field trip to Toys ‘R’ Us to help Santa pick out gifts for our colleagues’ kids at our upcoming office holiday party. I was pretty tempted to bring a giant stuffed Olaf home with me.

Before shopping, we hit up the Annual Holiday Lunch Buffet at Paesano. I love their delicious Holiday Buffet, and this is the fourth or fifth year in a row that I’ve visited. This year it is running from 12/9-12/12 and 12/15-12/19, so there are a still a few more days to make it in!

On Friday, the huz and I had a fantastic tapas dinner at Aventura. Two standout dishes that we tried and LOVED were the Pollo Frito de Gaufres (chicken and waffles dish) and the Alcachofas Fritas (fried artichoke hearts). Aventura has definitely become one of my favorite Ann Arbor restaurants over the past year.

Had to get our Cupcake Station fix while we were downtown, of course.

Next we strolled over to Hill Auditorium for the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday Pops concert. Always a good time, and puts me in the holiday spirit. Loved the Frozen songs this year! Now I’m itchin’ to bust out my violin and fiddle some carols.

Just another reason to love Ann Arbor – Nickels Arcade during the holidays:

On Saturday I did lots of Christmas shopping, and got Elevation Burger for dinner. Possibly my favorite burger in Ann Arbor? It’s tough to choose.

Clearly I’ve been eating lots of tasty noms this month. Over my (glorious) 10-day holiday break from work later this month, I’m planning to try out two of Ann Arbor’s newest restaurants as well.

PF Chang’s will be opening at the Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor tomorrow, Monday, December 15, 2014. I’ve always been a big fan of their orange beef and lettuce wraps.

Also, last week Bravo! Cucina Italiana opened at Briarwood Mall. This “’Polished Casual’ Affordable Restaurant Serving Classic Italian Food” has four other locations in Michigan, and the Ann Arbor location is their fifth in the state. I’ve never been to a BCI restaurant before but am interested in checking it out. Looks good!:

BRAVO! Grilled Salmon Salad (3)

This morning I cooked a big breakfast, and today have plans to sip Candy Cane Lane tea and wrap presents!

Any other festive goings on I should know about?
