Hello friends! Guess what I have for you today. A restaurant review! It’s been a while, I know. Heading into the unknown with a 13 month old can be a little daunting sometimes, so our restaurant adventures have been tamer and more infrequent as of late.
However, BurgerFi recently invited the family in to try their latest menu items. It sounded like a fun opportunity for a lunch outing, so we decided to check them out. This was actually my first visit to BurgerFi at 1235 S. University in Ann Arbor near the University of Michigan’s central campus, so let me tell you about it.
The huz, J, and I visited BurgerFi around 11:15 AM on a Sunday morning. Ordering was easy, and friendly and helpful staff introduced us to the menu and offered great suggestions.
You order at the counter and then have a seat with a beeper to wait for your food. J enjoyed looking out the window at the passersby on S. University. I think we were in the minority as non-students but hey, the huz and I are both alumni, and it’s a family-friendly place, too. We love returning to our old stomping grounds!
In terms of libations, BurgerFi offers a Freestyle Coca-Cola machine, bottles of Mexican Coke or Boylan sodas, beer on tap and some craft beers, wine, and frozen custard. Lots of options! The two adults each sipped on a bottle of soda.
Aaaand, within minutes, out came the food. DUH duh duh DUUUUH!
Two CEO Burgers, Fries, Onion Rings, and a Grilled Cheese for the J bear.
Oh and little guy was a fan by the way! He was happy as a clam hanging out in his stroller nomming away on his grilled cheese (and a few fries as a treat, as well as some berries from home.) He was such a good sport for our lunch!
Okay, so let’s get back to business because I really need to tell you about these burgers right now.
We each ordered the CEO Burger because how can you not after reading this description:
“The CEO Burger, featuring two Wagyu + brisket blend beef patties, savory aged Swiss cheese, candied bacon-tomato jam and garlic truffle aioli sauce.”
Oh, and it was excellent. It was one of those burgers that made me say “OMG” after taking a bite and one that I will crave in the future. Very juicy and the beef was really flavorful. Their beef is hormone- and antibiotic-free, which is also a plus. I totally ate every bite of this double cheeseburger, you guys.
We were also tempted to order the Breakfast All Day Burger, featuring a Natural Angus Burger, American Cheese, Bacon, Maple Syrup, Fried Egg, Hash Brown, Grilled Onions, Ketchup, but in the end, were wooed by the CEO Burger. Gimme all the burgers.
When I saw the onion rings I may have looked like this: O_O
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that the onion rings were almost as big as my face? Also delicious and golden brown.
The hand-cut fries were also great. Crispy exterior, soft in the middle, well-seasoned with big flakes of salt. Addicting. And a big portion.
We stopped in before the true lunch crowd came in, but there were several tables of diners visiting by the time we left. There is plenty of seating available. The vibe is kind of “warm industrial.”
Overall, we had a great lunch at BurgerFi and were really impressed with the fantastic burgers. I would definitely recommend their food and the restaurant overall.
